The wild plums and Bradford pears are blooming also. I am just so, so ready. I have a few projects lined up to tackle. Getting my gazebo refreshed, trying my hand at dyeing my outdoor chair cushions and reupholstering some of them. I would love to do some garden landscaping this year too and get my water garden up and running. Whew, I guess I have more than a few projects. I would also love, love to get my garage organized and continue with my log cabin decor. I guess the list could just go on and on . I'm praying that I will be able to accomplish all of these this year. I'm sure there will be many more along the way, but these are some of my priorities.
I have had a horrible head cold for about a week. When I was just getting over that, I got food poisioning. Believe you me, that is one thing you never, ever want to get. I have never been so sick in my entire life!!!!. My sides and ribs are still so sore from throwing up so much. 3 hours almost nonstop. yuk
During my many thrift store excursions, I am always on the look out for fabric. I came across this vintage Tahitian Sunset piece by Kingsway fabrics the other day, which I think is so lovely.
Haven't decided yet what I will use it for but I have some ideas.
I ran across these cute plates at the dollar store and just had to pick up a few for outside this summer.
We celebrated my brother's 60th birthday this week and my sister made the absolute best lasagna for the occasion.
I made a salad and garlic bread
to go with and she baked the birthday pineapple upside down cake .
I like to have a Sunday recipe for my blog, so today it will be the birthday pineapple upside down cake.
Momma's Pineapple Upside Down Cake
2 c brown sugar
l/3 c granulated sugar
1 cube margarine
1 yellow cake mix
2 eggs
l/4 cup cooking oil
l can sliced pineapples
marichino cherries
Mix cake mix according to directions. (eggs, oil are for the cake mix) set aside.
Mix brown sugar and granulated sugar together. Melt butter. Pour sugar mix over bottom of cakepan. drizzle melted margarine all over this. Add pineapple slices over the sugar and margarine. Pour cake batter on top of this. Bake at 325 degrees (or according to cake mix). Until toothpick inserted in cake removes clean. Remove cake and let cool. Turn upside down onto cake plate. Add marichino cherries to each pineapple.
Enjoy.
